IFCP visits Pohnpei Students

On February 02 2017 @ 1:50pm IFCP (Island Foods Community of Pohnpei) held a workshop with the 5th graders and their teachers at Ohmine Elementary School. Unfortunately a power point presentation could not be conducted due to power outage. The “Go Local” and its CHEEF (Culture, Health Environment, Economy Food Security) was conducted by IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter. Also presented were the MODFAT (Micronesia One Diet Fits All Today) brochures to take home and show their parents on how to eat a healthy and balanced meal to prevent people from NCD’s. A quiz was held after the presentation and they showed IFCP that they learned a lot from our short visit. Some students decided not to participate in the quiz so all that decided to participate in the quiz were rewarded with IFCP logo pencils.


On February 07 2017 at 10:30 am IFCP held another workshop was held with the 6th graders and their teacher at Saladak School. A power point presentation on the” Go Local” and its CHEEF benefits was conducted by IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter. MODFAT brochures were also presented during the workshop. A quiz was held and all the students were rewarded with pencils. IFCP ended the workshop with snacks of ripe bananas.
On February 08 2017 another workshop was held with the 6th graders of Pohnpei Catholic School (PCS) and their teacher at Pohnpei Catholic School. A power point on the “Go Local” and its CHEEF benefits was also conducted by IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter. Also presented were the MODFAT brochures. Most of the students took notes on the presentation. After the presentation a short quiz was held and almost all the students can answer the questions which IFCP is extremely proud of this achievement. The students showed IFCP that they listened to every detail of the presentation and have learned a lot. All the students were rewarded with pencils.
On February 09 2017 at 10:30 am IFCP held another workshop with the 6th graders, their teachers and the Principal of Nett School at the Nett school Nahs. A power point presentation on the “Go Local” and its CHEEF benefits was conducted by IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter. MODFAT brochures were also presented. A quiz was conducted after the presentation and all the students were rewarded with “Go Local” pencils.
On February 14 2017 a workshop was held with the 6th&7th graders along with their teachers at the Sapwalap School. A power point presentation was conducted on the “Go Local” and its CHEEF benefits by IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter. A quiz was held after the presentation and all students were rewarded with pencils. The students each have a banana for snack.
On February 16 2017 another workshop was held with the 6th graders and their teacher at ESDM School. A power point presentation on the “GO Local” and its CHEEF benefits was conducted by IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter. A quiz was held after the presentation and all the students were rewarded with pencils.
On February 17 2017 IFCP staffs departed Pohnpei via CIA and arrived on Mwokilloa before noon the same day. A workshop was held with the 1st -8th graders and their teachers on the Beautiful and magnificent Island of Mwokilloa. Unfortunately IFCP had some difficulties with our projector so we cannot do a power point presentation. A presentation of the “Go Local”and its CHEEF benefits was conducted by Acting Executive Director and Project Coordinator of IFCP Mrs. Emihner Johnson. A quiz was held after the presentation and the students did very well on answering all the questions. All the students were rewarded with pencils.
On February 20 a workshop on the flour milling machine and the D-HOPE concept was conducted by Acting Executive Director Mrs. Emihner Johnson with the community people of Mwokilloa at the Mwokilloa Municipal Government with a total of 32 participants attending.
On February 28 a workshop was conducted at the IFCP office in Pwunso with the COM students from Dana Lee Lings Ethnobotany class by Outreach Assistant of IFCP Mrs. Neilynn Walter with a total of 24 particiants.
On March 02 another workshop was held with the 6th graders and their teachers at Rohie Sokehs Pah School. The workshop was conducted by Acting Executive Director Mrs. Emihner Johnson and IFCP Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter with a total of 16 participants. A quiz was held after the presentation and all students were rewarded with pencils.
IFCP would like to thank each and every principal and teachers of all the schools that had made this program possible by allowing IFCP to have a school visit and conduct the “Go Local” campaign. IFCP will be looking for your full support on making school policies on campaigning for “Go Local” and its CHEEF benefits.
On March 14 another workshop was conducted with the 6th 7th 8th graders and their teachers at Rohi Elementary School. A power point presentation was conducted by IFCP Outreach Assistant Neilynn Walter. A quiz was also conducted and all the students were rewarded with pencils and had complimentary healthy snack of ripe bananas from Island Food Community Of Pohnpei.
On March 16 another workshop was held with the 6th graders and their teachers of Seinwar elementary School. The workshop was conducted by Acting Director and Project Coordinator Mrs. Emihner Johnson. A quiz was also held and all the kids were rewarded with pencils.
On March 21 another power point presentation on the GO LOCAL and its CHEEF benefits was held with the PCS ( Pohnpei Catholic School) 8th- 9th graders and their teachers. It was conducted by Acting Director Mrs. Emihner Johnson and Outreach Assistant Mrs. Neilynn Walter.
